So now that The Acolyte is finished can we have an actual conversation about the quality of this show? (Please leave the rage bait comments and things about race and sexuality at the door that’s not what this conversation is about).

I had a good time with it but it definitely wasn’t top tier. Prequel era is my favorite so I expected a lot more but I think that could also be a result of my expectations being way too high. I’d watch again and hope for another season, but I hope they work a bit harder on acting performances and dialogue. Less CW type scenes.

Thematically great! Clunky at times in writing and execution but some extreme fertile ground with the usual SWU plot point like dogma, POV , what’s good what’s evil etc

*Spoilers* Got better but a little rushed. There needed more back story for why Sol was so obsessed with Osha. And Osha fell to the dark side way too fast. Dialogue was bad but I don't mind that, all star wars has it. Choreography was really good. I loved Qimir a lot too, he felt fresh and exciting. Erasing Mae's mind felt cheap, like it should have been over 3 episodes, not the end of 1.

I have mixed feelings. I enjoyed it, but there are better SW shows. The writing was better than say, Kenobi, but not on par with Andor. Acting was good, better than usual for a SW show on average, but as mentioned let down by some writing issues. The saber choreography was very good. Some of the best in recent times. The overall story was interesting, but I did find myself looking at my phone more than usual.

I mainly watched for the fight scenes. The acting (like a lot of the Star Wars shows) was mid at best. But the plot was cool and different because of the murder mystery angle it took.

Contained everything I love about the Prequels. The toxicity of organized religion and how power corrupts all is a favorite SW theme and this rings that bell over and over. Finally we have a Sith that I'd want to be and the Dark side is alluring for the first time. 8.5/10. Wish episodes were longer.

The pacing was a bit weird, and the dialogue was a bit clunky sometimes. Felt like they are just chopped up a longer format. In all, I quite enjoyed it, I feel like some things seemed to be decided by committee, the same as I felt about The Book of Boba Fett. However, I do hope for the second season, so they can iron out the kinks. I mean, look at the first three seasons do Star Trek TNG, and Voyager, it ideas were there, it just needed a bit of tweaking.

A few good ideas mixed in, good fights, and it was nice to see some location shooting but... mostly poor TV execution, meh dialogue, lack of cohesive performances with some varying wildly scene to scenes, and a misguided choice to frame it around a Rashomon mystery that ultimately went nowhere interesting and didn't justify itself. And the final ep with a quick mind wipe makes absolutely no sense. That said I loved Qimir.

On its own merits: 6/10. If given the Star Wars grace: 7/10. It has good and even great moments, but the structure and pacing were WAAAY off. Some characters aren’t as endearing as I’d have liked and some of the mysteries aren’t concluding in a satisfying way. Choreography and main cast are a highlight and there are interesting threads for a S2
