Recording bass instruments in small rooms can be a real challenge. But here's a method that can make it work right at home: 1. Point your microphone directly at your bass. 2. Clamp a headphone over the f-hole and connect it to the instrument input of your audio interface. Only one side of the headphone will act as a microphone! Blend these two signals to your liking. For even better results, cut the microphone signal around 100-200 Hz and let the headphone handle the bass frequencies.
