Editor friends, I need your help! How do you feel about em dashes in fictional work (or any manuscript, really?) Would you replace them for greater readability? Suggest the author replace them? Leave them alone? Take out the ones that really jar and leave the rest? I confess, this is the first time I've seen them used in a manuscript and they're EVERYWHERE!! Help urgently needed, PLEASE!
