Just so we’re clear- As a pro-choice doula, I understand the assignment. It would be unconscionable to me to support a woman’s medical autonomy in pregnancy and birth, but not be pro-choice. Especially in a country with a rising maternal and fetal death rate and lawmakers who don’t seem to care. Medical autonomy doesn’t just start in pregnancy to me.
