I had a hostel as well ask for 2 reels, 1 carousel, stories & drone shots all with full rights for 3 nights in a room with a shared bathroom which for me is a lot of deliverables. An air bnb again reach out to me, asking to collaborate but said I had to pay in full upfront through air bnb and then they would reimburse me. I said that’s not how I operate so they then refused to work with me.

I’ve had similar experiences in Australia and NZ, very few travel companies have any budget for paying creators + unpaid collabs often have very high deliverables. So frustrating! Tourism boards tend to have a better understanding of the creator landscape vs. accomm or tour operators.

This is just companies scaling their investment appropriately to the new discovery based algorithms. This isn’t 2016 instagram anymore and it’s a grift for creators to pitch to companies like it is.

This is insane 🙃🤦‍♂️ I think it depends on which tour/hotel I’ve had this from one hotel but managed to negotiate the deliverables. I usually just agree 1x reel/post if it’s a collab. I’ve ever worked with Companies who don’t even give deliverables. Yikes if people are agreeing to all of this ☠️

Yeh aus is really not a great place for content cretors its way to much work for nothing and you don’t even get any enjoyment out of the experience. The other issue is they don’t even care for experience they still expect this for free. There is a big lack of understanding here about the power of social media marketing.

We also know a lot of people here who do a lot of collaborations and deliver this amount of work but their socials have turned into a ad space and just seems like spam that is inauthentic just so they can get the experience for free. What is sad is it’s so much work in such a short amount of time it’s not worth having the experience or stay for free cause you are working the whole time. Then you have to edit and post and give away your rights. To us here in aus it’s not worth it most of the time

I’m from Australia and the opportunities here in the travel industry aren’t great at all unless you have a major following! I rarely do any collaborations when I come home!
