I think this goes hand in hand with Elon's bet on Robotaxi and Opimus. Tesla won't need as many car buyers if their business is replacing the entire auto-industry with self-driving cars. It's ambitious, but my sense is that Musk has an ego so large he doesn't think he can fail. But failures are actually stacking up, and he's not recognizing them. Elon and through him, Tesla, CAN fail. And this is from someone who once greatly admired Musk.
