Music producers, what are the best listening tests to do when a tune is mixed? There is the car test, personally I also like checking on Macbook speakers, and there's also weird ones like listening from another room...

Tools like Sienna Rooms, Waves Abbey Road studio etc can be good for listening in different virtual rooms

Steven Slate VSX provides a whole bunch of varied listening environments that is giving me a mix that translates without additional listening tests

All those are valid. One of the best is also to listen on the shittiest speakers you can find. If it sounds good there, it sounds fucking fire.

For me I listen to music as a consumer the most in my car and on my AirPods Pro. For me listening back on these devices allows me to hear it as a record rather than a mixer. I can usually tell straight away if any fine details aren’t how I want on my AirPods. How do you listen to music most?

I always test the mix on AirPods and/airpods pro. I figure that’s what I personally listen to music on 99% of the time so it’s gotta sound good on those. And I ALWAYS test a track in a proper DJ booth before releasing.

Earbuds and headphones also brings out details you might miss on speakers.
