Really doesn’t matter how much a company can afford to pay. The only matter is the time worth the money and $2k for 4 hours seems like a reasonable offer for a corpo gig

Unless they are in AI space they don’t have the cash that they used to. The market has changed and there have been huge layoffs as interest rates went up. So I think you missed on the best they had to offer, depending on how much funding they have etc

It's reality! Deejaying should be a passion first.if you make it as a business then Each dj has a price! So it's not a competition. For these companies..it's part of spending..they are paying the marketing or whatever manager to handle this portion of the event..You're not part of what they want to advertise neither. You're a vibe they want to have as compliment. So yea they can easily move on to the next one.

Smh should of grabbed that gig . You don't know how many gigs you could have got from just that 1. Everyone can pay us more than what they're offering that's how life goes. That word budget is bs because if we really want something we'll work ot to get it , if not get a second job to afford what we want to spend our money on . Ppl choose not to pay us correctly knowing damn well they can afford us.

I’ve seen corporate gigs that pay more for a flower wall or a 360 photobooth 😐 than what they want to pay a DJ. Sometimes saying NO is the right thing to do but then the next DJ says yes or even djing for less devaluing Djs fair rate.

TBH this sounds like either greed, gloating, or just cap. That’s beyond reasonable for not having to bring equipment and just playing background music. Fostering relationships is huge in this business. Best believe that at the very least ended up costing you a laundry list of solid referral business.

Did you counter with an offer of what would have been worth your time? Corporate gigs probably have all the sound set up, engineers, you woulda just had to plug in… that’s an easy $2k. Not to mention the future opportunities or relationships that it could bring

If you’re thinking big picture, why not take the measly $2k (lol) and let them hear you rock a party… so the next time they hit you up, you may be able to negotiate another price?
