When I fill out a form in the UK & they ask for my ethnic group or background I always select other, but let me explain: The options are usually - Asian - Black / African / Caribbean / Black British - Mixed / Multiple - White - English / Welsh / Scottish / Northern Irish / Irish / British - Arab / Middle East - Other - please describe I write “White - African” because if I’m busy learning to process & unlearn the heavy parts of what that means, I should also claim recognition. It’s healing.

20 小時內	Abi VL theabisnail	There is a big difference between a black American/European, who's ancestors were forced from their native lands as slaves and no longer know where exactly they came from (their histories and cultural identities purposely erased), and a white person who's ancestors voluntarily colonised Africa and who normally can trace lineage to not only Europe, but to a specific euro country and culture, who comes from a place of comparative privilege.
