I know it's pretty normal for freelance illustrators, but I've been cold emailing new clients for about a month now, and still got no project offers. Even though some really BIG clients responded to me saying they love my work and they would keep me in mind, the negativity (and dwindling finances) get to you at one point and you end up being in this very dark place.

I remember last year I emailed... 250sh(?) potential clients and heard back mainly nothing or like you said, we love your work and keep you in mind. Some hope though, most of my work this year is from those same big clients whom I messaged last year. They definitely do keep you in mind when they tell you that. It just sucks because of the the timing, they'll come all at once or not at all.
