Settling down for the night in temporary accommodation (Travelodge hotel) with my 9yo tonight while waiting for a council house to become available, I am so grateful to live in a country where this is an option. However I am shocked that while I’m in this vulnerable position I have no access to a kitchen or even a fridge and am expected to pay out of pocket to eat out in order to feed my child a decent hot meal. I’m also being made to move miles & miles away from anyone we know in the meantime 😩

一天內	Jemima jemimagore	I can't imagine the previous generations coming out with something like this - they don't have a job, for whatever reason, they have a child they need to feed, surely in previous generations they wouldn't be given a free hotel room, they would be sent to the workhouse. Could you not buy a loaf of bread, tins of tuna, lettuce and butter and make sandwiches and buy a cheap microwave and then you can make baked potatoes, heat up cans of soup etc? Eating out is a luxury in my opinion, last resort
