Is drying your washing on a line really that unusual in the US? Here in Australia even if you own a dryer it’s rare to use it

Victorian … don’t own a dryer but do have an under verandah clothes line … great … no cost either except for a new pack of pegs every ten years 😀

Clothes line uses sustainable environmentally friendly solar and wind power. Helps remove stains, no need for fragrant freshener. Only use a clothes dryer in the winter wet in Australia.

Bit of privilege showing there - a huge volume of Australian apartments have bylaws that prohibit washing being dried on balconies so it’s dryer or mould…

In many parts of the US, it’s too cold a good portion of the year. Also, people work and would not leave clothes out all day unless home.

I live in a place where in rains 3/4 of the year or is too cold to dry them. I exclusively use a dryer because of it
