Can we talk about the fact that in 2024 the iPhone 16 Pro STILL will not support anything other than the AAC audio codec for streaming audio over Bluetooth? 😡

I would think Apple has no motives to do so as they almost only support AAC format audio in the phone, the iPhone in foreseeable future should only stay to support SBC & AAC only over Bluetooth. aptX/aptX HD could be considered but I don't think they will put efforts on it because they don't make iPhone as audiophile music device; there is no chance for Sony's LDAC to appear at iPhone.

Why would they? Apple has the best AAC encoder on the planet, so their 256 kbps AAC streams are indistinguishable from lossless encoding. And unlike LDAC, AAC support is universal and standards-based.

You mean the industry-standard AAC that’s used in basically every video stream, blu-ray disk, etc in existence? And supported by literally everything?

Ya I wish my Sony Xm headphones could reach their full potential with my iPhone. Clearly the trolls replying to this post don’t know anything about audio codecs. I just want LDAC! i Is that too much to ask for?! 🥲

If we are arguing pointlessly I didn't get the memo, but the text says "Apple Lossless" and FLAC, both of which can transmit high bandwidth if the source audio quality is high enough.

Literally why would they support “competing” codecs? It’s a codec optimized for their devices and their ecosystem. This is a dumb complaint.

actually i have an ipad and a realme with ldac. so i compared the sound quality on the ipad and through ldac. and it turned out that the sound on the ipad is much better. it's like you're listening to a completely different recording. so in the end i bought an iphone for the sound.
