Sorry to say, but that statement is not true. Spain is happy with tourism, the big silent majority of us do not harass tourists or make graffitis. The minority that is harrassing tourists are mainly leftist that say tourism brings gentifrication, Airbnb is evil and housing prices go up while salaries go down, well, sadly that is true everywhere and It is not tourists and vistors fault when they visit a city. Also, they protest against tourists but remain silent against increase in criminality

It's not the tourism, its the lack of regulation in the housing market. Where I live there are approx 20k permanent residents. This balloons to around 250k in summer. I've just looked at the rental market and there are exactly zero long term properties available. Not an exaggeration, 0. Only availability is for rental between September to June. Where are we supposed to go the rest of the time?

A minute of silence for all those normal people in a comment section, trying to explain the situation in a comprehensive way to the mass of lone, angry people who just want to throw shit indiscriminately at others in social media because it makes their life to feel less unbearable. Paisanos, esta la mayoría de esta gente ni ha puesto sus bellas patitas en España. No hay nada que les vaya a sacar de la niebla en la que viven.

I think mass tourism has become a problem worldwide, cost of life increases a lot because of it. It is sad to talk with people who has been living in a touristy city telling you that is difficult to them to keep living there even when is their hometown. Also, a lot of leases are on Airbnb now.

In Spain tourists are welcome, the problem it's the stupid people who think the tourism make the rentals more expensive, the problem it's on the construction monopolies and the politics with 0 socials houses
