No. NEVER EVER: You won't hear any european of any european country saying he is travelling to Africa or to Asia, NEVER EVER, even when they go to the american continent they say, I fly to Canada, Honduras, or Argentina. We go to cameroon, to kenia, to south Africa. And when we fly to india, we never say whe ply to Asia. This ist just an American thing

I'm sorry but no. I can mostly speak for my generation, but we study geography at school, we learn about almost every country in every continent - mostly the "important" ones -, that's why people know the difference between country and continent. We do usually refer to the US as "America" and to the spanish and portuguese speaking countries as "Latin America", but it's a common saying.

As a German Vietnamese you’re right but I see it happen wirh older generations though, not much with younger people. It’s actually only bad when it comes to the cuisine from my experience because suddenly everyhing becomes Asian food if it has either soy sauce or duck in it💀

America is not a country, It is a continent. A person from the USA is American, also a person from Argentina is American. A mexican, chilena, brazilian, peruvian, venezuelan are also American. Canada, Mexico, Panamá, Cuba,Ecuador, Colombia,Bolivia,Nicaragua,Honduras,El Salvador, República Dominicana,Puerto Rico,Haití,Guyana,Belize,Trinidad &Tobago,Paraguay,Uruguay are ALSO América. But we know, you have the same mentality when It comes to your neighbors.

We don’t. We’re well traveled. We talk about countries not continents when referring to countries. This was also taught to us at a very young age.

We literally don't. In our schools, we learn about everyone's culture. Not just ours. I believe it's called "including people"
