I repeat phrases from tv. As a child I got it wrong multiple times. People laughed at me. (E.g.: I loved the show 227. My aunt was getting ready and asked “how do I look?” I said, with the intonation of Mary Jenkins, “girl, that dress is screamin’ for a necklace.” Everyone laughed). I got better at judging context. When I used this delayed echolalia in my teens, people laughed with me instead of at me. Apparently I was funny. Who knew?! Thank you, AuDHD pattern recognition Neurodivergent Threads
