Dang you made bikes work! You should do a coffee jaunt version — where every day / few days you string together a ride that always has a coffee shop (or two) in the middle. I’ve found that having a fun destination keeps things light / fun and more consistently motivating after a few months.

What helped me most to get back into regular exercise: Don’t beat myself up. Setting a goal for frequency (minimum x times per week), any distance or duration counts, and one or two short preferred fun routes. I don’t make it harder on myself by setting goals on intensity, distance, etc. The best thing you can do to get stronger and faster, is to go out regularly and enjoy. My training schedule is whatever I feel like when I put on my running shoes or jump on my bike.

That’s a pretty tough schedule to keep going for a while. Make sure you also have down weeks where you do half, or have nothing. Big chunks of physical progress lies in giving your body time to recover. I always build toward an organized or self planned big ride. That way I have medium/long goals, I can build up the intensity (doing intervals isn’t needed every week, do more zone 2) and then week before big ride I take it easy. This way I have a clear perf peak the week of a big ride.

If it works for you! I do Tues weds thurs 1 hr sat sun 2+. Weds sun endurance/recovery, others structured threshold/vo2max or group ride.
