Question for West Ham fans. My family and I wanted for a long time to attend a Premier League match for a long time and, because - it’s in London, - it’s two good teams, - it wasn’t too expensive and - there were 4 seats in a row available, We’ve settled on West Ham vs Liverpool. The question is this: given the fact we’re neutral towards both teams and just want to enjoy the game, what would the etiquette be in the stadium?

Football grounds are mostly very safe, but I know people who have been given a sly hit to the back of the head for celebrating the wrong goal. Don’t do it. To get the most out of the experience, become a West Ham fan, even if it’s just for the day. Feel the joy, feel the (more likely) despair!

And mock everyone around you by shouting boh-ha a wah-ha as loud as you can in a Dick van Dyke concrete accent. Should just about do it for you. Maybe wear a Man U top if chilly.

There's good history with this fixture at the bowl so its likely there'll be plenty for a neutral to enjoy. Cheering for anyone other than the home team won't do you any favours as some react badly to that, its the same in many stadiums. Get there in plenty of time, the store is decent, and the atmosphere outside the ground is pretty good weather permitting. Enjoy yourselves, it'll be a cracker! ⚒️

I witnessed a Barcelona supporter get ejected from the stadium for cheering when Messi scored at Chelsea in UCL. Okay, okay, he actually got ejected for the fight that ensued, and Prem may not be as heated as UCL, but you get the idea.

It’s nothing like going to a raider game when they were in LA or Oakland. although that’s the reason I am a West Ham fan. They have some of that raider DNA (plus working class and Jewish ) but I think maybe they lost it when they moved to London Stadium. Just like the Raiders lost it when they moved to Las Vegas.
