Over the last several years I have come to realize (contra my Evangelical upbringing) that compartmentalizing is a huge problem. The toxic positivity of Evangelical culture says, "You can't bring that part of yourself here!" Now I can say, "I'm not going to leave part of myself outside for your comfort." Whether I am talking about Jesus, my wife and family, music, food, books, or my favorite cocktails I am the same whole person. 1/2
