These gathered clays had dramatically different characteristics which finally lead to us digging out the microscope. One in particular was quite different than the rest in its behavior when mixed with water. After viewing many known minerals and comparing, we have a clear understanding of what it isn’t. It’s amazing how clay platelets, silica, various carbonates and metals all look Extremely different under the scope and some are easily identified (not this one). A full analysis is in order.
