Crimes involving men murdering exs, girlfriends, wives, and children. Calling them tragedies washes our hands of them, because what is tragedy after all but a heartbreaking but inevitable fate? Tragedy is linked to a sense of the unavoidable. So we don’t have to do the hard work of punishing the myriad little crimes that lead to these animals blooming fully into murderers.
