Then a couple nights ago standing outside on the back deck at 3 am while he’s patrolling the yard (I haven’t had a decent night sleep in days because of this) I hear what sounds like a smoke alarm chirping. It’s not in our house but appears to be coming from the empty house right behind us. One thing I know about our boi, he hates that sound more than taking a bath. Immediately starts freaking and whining. 👇

So interesting. Our lab mix has recently started exhibiting similar behavior. I ended up getting her a doggie earmuff wrap. We haven’t had a recurrence of the noises that trigger her if I’ll update when it happens.

Our girl has a lot of anxiety during thunderstorms and holiday fireworks. We give her CBD treats and it seems to help. Our neighbor gets prescription meds for her dog’s anxiety. I think it’s gabapentin. You might check with your vet anyway to rule out other problems. Hope your boi is back to his old self soon!

Could there be a puppy of some sort next door that only he can hear? We don't hear what we do. Take him with you to the property, let him get it out of his system as long as it's safe and legal.

We play piano music at night (they make music specifically for dogs but we just do general classical piano), it really helps our anxious boy know when it is time to relax. As a bonus we play it in the car when he is over-excited and it works just as well. Our girl has storm anxiety, we have started letting her go to the basement when it storms and she is much more relaxed.
