I have a question to parents and educators. (DONT COME FOR ME) How long do you think parents should walk their kindergarten babies to class?

Ours don't. We kept the drop off outside after Covid rules. It's great. Hugs & Kisses are all outside. Kids play on the playground until 5 mins before the bell. Teachers come out to meet the class. During covid, we met them at their designated grade door. We walked them to class together. After 2 wks, they just walked in on their own.

No days. At our school they line up outside for the first few weeks and go in together.

We went with him a few days, now I drop him off in front of the school, but I ask his siblings to walk him. I’d probably go a few more days if he didn’t have older siblings there that I could text to make sure he makes it 🤣

Im a teacher and mom. Walk them to the line, or class and say good bye. I also would make them carry or wear their book bag. Get them used to doing it by themselves.

We aren’t allowed in the front doors of the school for security reasons.

Our school doesn’t let parents into the building at drop off. So even the Kinders go in solo. And in first grade, both my kids walked the 1/2 mile to school and back by themselves. :)

However long you want to or the child wants you to walk them.

At our school, you basically walk them everyday. Our kinder classes have a separate and gated entrance from the rest of the kids. The teacher opens the gate and they all go thru the class to their playground.

We were only given the first day to walk them to their class. After that the schools policy was to walk them up to the gate and the child needed to walk themselves to their class. I found that to be fair. I’m also a parent who raises her kids to be independent.
