It was international dog day the other day. So here is a portrait of my dog Pedro. Painted after I had a vivid dream about him, in which I told him he was ‘my best friend, my only friend’. The sunflower symbolises loyalty, the cucumbers are his favourite treat. I know pet portraits are often considered a bit low brow. But I will fight for my right to include the sentimental power of companion animals in my work. Art Threads
