Even if electric vehicles were 100% powered by fossil fuels, and they had the same amount of emissions as internal combustion engines (they are actually much more efficient), they would still be worth transitioning to, because it would ultimately move pollution out of cities (to power plants), resulting in huge health benefits, tens of thousands of lives saved, and increased economic productivity.
