I believe after a certain amount of precheck travelers, it triggers someone to get randomed. Today was your day. Maybe in 3 months it’ll happen again!

It happened to me the first time I used precheck. They asked for my phone and swabbed it. Not happened since then.

They’re testing for explosives, not drugs. It happens whether or not you have Precheck. I’ve had it happen maybe 1 out of every 5 flights. Normally it’s like a minute or two; you just got stuck with the newbie.

They are checking for bomb/explosive residue….not drugs. It can happen if you stack your electronics too tight and the xray can’t see through them. Happens to me if I put my two laptops and iPad in the same section of my backpack.

I’ve flown I think over 30 times this year already & I have precheck. Cause of my electronics & midi controllers my bag gets flagged from time to time. It’s gonna happen more often so get used to it lol for the most part traveling will be smooth but also depends on the agent that day. In Portland the line I went through, the agent flagged EVERYONES bag that was scanned so he held up the line for at least 45 minutes cause they had to open & examine everyone’s bag while he just sat there on xray😂

I get stopped for ‘random’ checks every time I travel

I had that happen to me for the first time when leaving the Cayman Islands, I was utterly shook bc I had no clue what was happening (I don’t fly much, especially internationally)

Happens to me every 3rd trip. Someone has to be “random”. Today it was you. Takes an extra 2 minutes. Oh well.
