Is 'animal rights' welfareism? Vegan ~7 years, street activism ~2 years. It's challenging to advocate for 'animal rights' for animals I don’t want to exist in the first place—specifically. Any 'rights' extended feel like welfareism to me. The 'right' they need is to not have been bred at all. I feel similarly about sanctuaries—caring for animals bred to suffer. I also care about wild animal suffering, but that's a different discussion for a hopefully majority-vegan future. Vegan Threads
