I would most definitely try to fight it. The stop sign came out as you was already passing. Slamming on the brakes could have potentially caused an accident. I think you have a chance.

You have to stop on both sides of the road. If this were a regular street would you blow past the bus?

as someone who drives school buses, usually i wait to let a few cars by, but once i turn on my flashers, and then let out my sign it’s kinda a free for all. it’s like run it if you want. depending on what state you live in, fighting this in court will be useless tbh. they’re just going to argue that the bus’ warning flashers came on. if you have a dashcam you MAY have a small chance

There’s no median.

People should already be yeilding when the bus has the yellow lights, aticipating a stop. If you got a ticket 4 others should as well.

That stop sign popped out too quickly. Not enough time for cars to slam on the breaks. The buses here, it takes a good 5-10 secs for the sign to be fully visible. That gives passing cars enough time to stop. Argue that in court

Because you didn’t stop , it’s not a divided highway with a median so by law you are required to still stop
