I live in the West Midlands and say the sun does come out often enough but I noticed that we always have at least a 5 minute rain shower a day. It’s almost like a routine now 🤣 no day without the 5 minutes of random rain

USA is more southern than Europe (we have similar climate due to Golfstrom) so it's only a necessity there in the northernmost states. But if she has moved to Seattle she should be supplementing in winter as well.
