I learned from this clip that Vance is apparently using the late-career Merle Haggard tune “America First” (2005) as his walk-out song. While the title seems to prefigure Trump (or look back to Lindbergh), it’s actually an anti-Iraq War song. “Let's get out of Iraq an' get back on the track / And let's rebuild America first.”

Journalist Chris Willman interviewed Hag about “America First” when it was released. Willman notes that by 2007, Haggard was performing a song he’d written endorsing Hillary Clinton for president. He also later said nice things about the Obamas.
