Just finished episode 3 - great series! My husband who is the big Tolkien person in our house also really enjoys it (much more favorable than a lot of other book purists).

I find it great! First season was slow paced, yes, but still great. And I already watched the new episodes and liked them :)

I'm a huge fan of the books but don't at all mind well made adaptations. I didn't mind how the lore and timeliness were rejigged in S1, but thought the pacing and dialogue was very ponderous and the plot contrivances a bit cringey. Having said that I watched all 3 new episodes of S2 and enjoyed them. Plot pacing and dialogue seems much improved. Happy with that!

My thoughrs are: if someone doesn’t like the shows I’m watching, then it’s on them to get out of my back yard, and stop looking through my window, or to stop looking over my shoulder on the train or plane.

It was slow at times but that’s how Tolkien’s world building happens. The Tolkien society wouldn’t let them use anything other than LOTR/Hobbit and appendix so other source materials weren’t allowed… I think they’ve made a beautiful adaptation that keeps the spirit of Tolkien. It feels like people who got crazy and started hating on starwars as “fans” decided to make a huge fuss about rings of power. (Or they are r*c*st) 🧝🏾‍♂️

Whi cares what others think, just watch it and see if you enjoy it. If you do that's valid and if you don't that is as well.

I'm a "purist" as in mild bragging about having read the LotR books before Jackson movies or owning a fancy copy of The Silmarillion (also possibly my favorite fantasy lore publication). I love the show. Great cinematographic flawed LotR material is better than no material.

I’m a big LotR fan, but I also work in film and kinda get some of the things that are going on behind the scenes, where their hands might have been forced and so on. It’s all technically just based on some of the appendices in The Return of the King, so if course it has to be heavily adapted to the screen. I think the first season tried to be so mysterious the whole time that it lost some things. This new season has more energy which is a good sign. Some stuff is hokey, some really hits!

I love it all. It’s still very much Tolkien
