My son has a first name that has like five different potential nicknames, but his family nickname is a completely different name. When he started school, the principal started calling him one of those common nicknames and it took him a while to realize he was talking to him. (He doesn’t mind being called other names, and we don’t mind it, that’s one of the things that comes with the territory of the name we chose.)
