Spent some time playing along with @zedd ‘s new album, Telos and I’m picking up on some harmonic themes that keep popping up over and over again. He keeps blurring the lines between major and minor. Either the tonic changes, or he borrows the iv chord from its relative major/minor, and then flips right back to where he was. But if that isn’t enough, some songs he adds shades of darkness by introducing some Phrygian qualities. Even Dominant Phrygian gets played with in unique ways! Love it!
