I wear it under my sweatshirt when I’m scanning my pass - it’s such a stupid rule.

Had this happen to me but 🤷🏻‍♀️ gate agent just doing their job. I had the budget ticket for the bright yellow budget airline which only allowed 1 personal item. Just shoved it in there and went on my way.

It’s still considered a bag. If you already have a personal item bag, then having a belt bag is considered two bags.

A more important question would be - Why are people still strapping fanny packs across their bodies? Changing the name doesn’t make them more attractive AND they never sit on anyone’s body correctly.

I understand why they’re not allowed but I think if they put regulation in place, then it shouldn’t be a problem. Like if the belt bag is under a certain size. They make sense to have because of all of the back and forth with getting your ID and boarding pass out. Especially if you have a connecting flight/layover.

It’s the number of items. You can only have two! It’s not a gate agent rule, it’s a FAA rule and the airline can get fined if you have three items walking onto a plane. If you already have a backpack, a carryon, then a belt bag is a third item and needs to be put in your backpack or suitcase. If you just have a suitcase and a belt bag (2 items) then they are not going to ask you to consolidate. It’s really no big deal to follow the rules💙🛫
