NGE Spoilers - 1/5- I just need to gush about how heart -wrenchingly stunning The Evangelion Rebuilds are. The emotional journey from devastating dispiritedness to a fully realized neon genesis is absolutely masterful. Anno laid his whole heart on the table to leave us with hope and I cried my way through the entirety of the last film. I’m so proud of Shinji. He has completed his hero’s journey; he has clawed through the dark tunnels of hopeless, he has forgiven himself & his father, (cont.)

As Kaworu says, he accepted pain to be “able to stand back up in the real world, not just the imaginary one.” This lesson is the heartbeat of growing up.
