I did it! I stood in the middle of the road with a pitcher of water in my hand (I'd been watering plants anyway.) After the car sped furiously up my little street, I raised the pitcher & waved at the driver who stopped in front of me. (I knew he'd turn & pass me again.) Cute dude maybe 25, short dreads, nice smile. I smiled back then went into my "old concerned old lady" mode: I reminded him about the many children who play in the street & the cat who was killed by a driver the other day.
