This is a long shot, but I am trying to find a historical source for a ghost 'hoax' I came across a few months ago but never noted the reference (like a goddamn fool). The story concerned a maid, or the daughter of a maid (let's call her M), who dressed up as a ghost (covered self in a sheet) and haunted darkened corners of the house proclaiming that the masters young son must marry M. She was only caught when she fell or tripped and the sheet came away, revealing her identity. 1/2
