You rinse the blood out before you put them in the washing machine. I do a double wash with extra washing powder. If your washing machine is cleaned regularly and running properly, there should be absolutely no issue with washing period underwear in it.

Period undies changed my life. They hold so much more than even the thickest pads without leaking and I find them very comfortable. I don't even think about my period anymore! For years I dreaded it, now I realise I only dreaded how gross I felt wearing pads. Also, you rinse the blood out with cold water until it runs clear BEFORE putting it in the washing machine :)

That's why I prefer the cup. Pour out, rinse out, sterilize with alcohol and then rinse again once a day to make sure it's really degermed. That's it.

I cloth diapered one of my kids while using cloth pads 🤷🏻‍♀️ way better for the environment and our bottoms.

What about parents who use reusable dippers. You’re literally washing shit. And blood is somehow worse ? Doesn’t make sense
