I come from country where everything is open and this is way better because everybody can take their day of and enjoy it fully. Everything can bought and prepared so one day makes no difference. My student job involved working in clothing store and boy is everyone happy to know that always there is a day to be enjoyed after shit that is Saturday.

Germany does have laws to protect workers. So the closed Sundays are no issue at all because (unless your boss is breaking the law) you have at least one day, where shops are open and you don’t have to work.
