Hey, 🧵's. I've been thinking about installing a Google Nest Thermostat in my home. The one or two HVAC guys I've talked to aren't crazy about Wi-Fi thermostats. What are your thoughts?

I have an Ecobee and love it. My HVAC guy installed it because I was uncertain about the wiring. Seemed real familiar with it.

I've been using a Sensi wifi thermostat for 8 years. No issues, and it's tremendously convenient to be able to check and set the temp remotely.

I’ve had two different WiFi thermostats (different houses) and both worked great. Mine is a Honeywell, but Nest is good, too. Love the ability to turn it off and on remotely. Easily controlled locally if WiFi is down.

I've used Nest and loved it, upgraded my HVAC system to a high end Amana that to use the variable speed fan I needed to use an Amana smart thermostat instead and it's also good but I miss the Nest sometimes. Lots of HVAC guys run off of decade or more old information, which is why they frequently discourage heat pumps and smart thermostats. Both are fantastic and probably necessary for the future.

Mine works fine. I like being able to set it up to switch to a different temp when I'm not home.

Nest works great for me. Best part is I can adjust the thermostat from anywhere using my phone. Like when leaving for a trip and forget to adjust before I go. And readjusting the temp prior to returning home.

I’ve been running an OG nest since 2012, seems crazy. It’s designed to run without the C wire, although very early firmware had a habit of killing the battery. FW was quickly fixed. Finally upgraded the wiring a few years back, which is preferred.

If your life's not already complicated enough, a WiFi thermostat is a great addition.

My guy was ok with a wifi thermostat as long as it was Tranes wifi thermostat. He put in a trane system
