I use ‘oh my gods’ or ‘by the gods’ because of fantasy books I read (and D&D). Raised carhiolic and don’t believe in any gods. Changed it to plural to specifically distance myself from Christianity. So not always an indicator of religion, the world is made up of many, many people and having that as the default is some serious coloniser thinking, if I ever saw it.
