Photographers of Threads once upon a time I lived in Myanmar, but now that seems like a dream, because it was more than 20 years ago. This shot was taken in 2001 at Bagan. My then-boyfriend was Burmese and he was chatting with these kids, who were interested in him. FYI, the paste on their faces is called 'thanaka'. It's used as a natural sunscreen and skin conditioner. It's made by grinding the bark of a tree with some water. It feels cool when applied to the skin. Scanned color negative
