I didn't realize this weekend would be a long weekend until a few days ago. With no real plans, I got lucky; I got a staging invite to work at a restaurant. I've come away with an increased respect for people in the food industry and I even picked up a few new tricks and friends. I started by cleaning produce, but was soon moved up to desserts, sauces, and hot food prep. The shift ended with a 2 hr shift on dish duty, a reminder that career growth isn't always linear.
