For me early on in my singer/songwriter career it was that you shouldn’t say no to anything and that everything was great exposure. In truth, there were plenty of things that I could have said no to, I ended up burning myself out and learning “exposure” is just a better sounding way of saying you’re not getting paid.

I can’t even recall, I ignore so much of what people tell me and go my own route anyway 😂😂😂 Probably that I have to be on TikTok in order to succeed

After working in a piano bar for 7 years I was told by some random guy: “you need to learn as many Broadway showtunes as possible. That’s what people really want to hear.” Me: I don’t really care to learn showtunes and you’re the first person to specifically mention them. Rando: Well, if you ever want to play in New York or on a cruise ship, you’ll have to learn a lot. Me (doing this as a side gig from my full time career): There is literally no chance of either of those things happening

" Do it on the fly ^^' " I like to plan things and not just jump blindly to the first opportunity. I have to assess, sit tight and think first
