I read an article this evening that reported earthworms are being wiped out in China and Vietnam due to high demand for traditional Chinese medicine. Seriously? Are earthworms really disappearing in both countries? I mean, China’s land area is among the largest in the world, even several times bigger than Vietnam. How is that possible? Are the economic benefits of using earthworms as traditional medicine really that significant, or do they have a great effect as traditional medicine?
