After doing a bit of research, what strikes me about Ted Chiang's definition of art is how *technocratic* it is. He sees artistry as a matter of the number of choices which go into a piece. Essentially, he's using a measure of entropy as a proxy for artistry. It's the type of definition a scifi guy would favor.
In contrast, this video offers a much more holistic - perhaps even ambiguous - take. It's also really well done, wonderful editing:
