Here’s my controversial photography take - all editing should be done in camera. I have no interest in the process or end result of photo editing, especially in this age of AI. What’s your hot take?

Research about dodging & burning - even the great Ansel Adams used these techniques in the dark room - no picture becomes truly great without some form of editing - photoshop etc are the digital dark room

It’s hardly controversial. It’s just Threadswaffle

Cameras are already using AI in body.

1. I hate the stupid phrase ‘hot take’. The word you want is ‘opinion’. 2. It depends why you’re taking the photos. Many of mine are textures or out of focus washes to be used as background layers in composites. Others are the main subjects for those composites, which will sometimes be masked and extracted from an unwanted background. I’m not shooting news, products, ads, street or other record files. 3. You do you. Don’t tell others to be the same.

Spoken like a person who doesn’t work in the commercial industry of photography.

Meh. Not sure that’s all that different anyway. AI is a category again. Art is whatever art is. If you want to be purist we’d all have to shoot instant film and then you really do have little chance to edit

I mean you do you. But don't tell others what to do. When I started my photography education I learned on film. And guess what we did a lot of editing when we printed the image on paper. We sure didn't do it in camera.

I treat Photoshop like a Darkroom…burn, dodge, contrast.
