I recommend a Kobo. As an ereader, beautifully designed and very nice to look at. As a bookstore, wonderfully curated and run by excellent people. Library-friendly with Libby. Kobo Plus for unlimited reading. 🌈Color🌈 screens so your books look chromatically excellent. CEO spends maybe more time on Threads than he should, but it means you do get random visits and book picks 😀

I bought a white Kobo Libra Colour a few weeks ago and I just adore it, take it with me everywhere. It's a pricier model but @mtamblyn has a great post that breaks down the differences so you can figure out what's right for you. Kobo integrates with Libby so you can borrow from your local library. Mine uses BorrowBox which is also compatible but unfortunately not directly to the device.

Another vote for Kobo! I have a Libra Colour and love it. I also have a Kindle Paperwhite, and I prefer the Kobo.

If all you do is read ebooks bought ONLY on Amazon buy a kindle. Otherwise Kobo is better, cheaper and best of all allows you to borrow library books (Google overdrive app).

I use Onyx Boox since 3 years ago and still think it's my best buy. An Android based e-reader suit my needs better because I rely my reading on digital library, like Libby and rarely buy books on Kindle. I prefer buy books on Google Play Books.
