Exhibit A (from an email received today): "If you think you don’t need to file a Self Assessment tax return for the 2023 to 2024 tax year, you must let us know. You can use our online tool to check." Exhibit B (from the online tool) "Based on your answers, you do not need to send a return for 2023 to 2024. You do not need to confirm to HMRC that you will not be sending a return - unless they asked you to send one." So which is it?
