I think "big" climbs are rather selfish, but I do them. It is just hard to justify the potential bad consequences. So, that leaves each of my big climbs as needing to be "redeemed." To the extent that any such redemption can be more than a simple rationalization, I have to truly be open to learning about myself AND bringing those lessons home and applying them purposefully with an eye to being an ever-improving human being.
